Description Topsoil removal, cut and fill sub-grade to required level and compaction. Supply, lay and compact AP65 and AP40. Replace topsoil and re-grass.

Relevance Site development work

David Morris Earthworks (DME) are relatively recently established in the Canterbury area operating from their base in Hororata. In the seven years of being established in the area, DME have undertaken:-

Car parks and access road up-grading for Department of Conservation at Mt Sunday and Lake Clearwater.

Plantation stumping and clearing to grassing stage for a number of landowners in Selwyn area including Dairy Holdings, Grasslands Canterbury, Quartz Hill Station and Plains Holdings employing specially developed attachments to 33t bulldozers.

Up-grade Carneys Road, Alford Forest for Ashburton District Council.

Dairy farm conversion involving shelter belt removal and destumping, track formation and shed site development for Grasslands, Te Pirita.

Access road, track and car park development at Lake Heron, Alford Forest, Rangitata River and Lake Emma for Department of Conservation.

Stopbank up-grade Ashburton and Waimakariri Rivers for Environment Canterbury – five contracts.

Flood bank construction Kowhai and Hapuka Rivers, Kaikoura for Environment Canterbury.

Sports field development, Heathcote for Christchurch City Council.

Land restoration and retention basin construction for Selwyn District Council at Tai Tapu.

Overburden stripping for Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative at their Kakahu limestone quarry near Geraldine which also involved an engineered, compacted fill.

Land clearing and levelling alongside the Waimakariri River for Environment Canterbury.

Sub-contracted to Earthworks Marlborough constructing large irrigation dam in the Wairau River valley near Blenheim.

Dairy Conversions for Dairy Holdings Limited in Hororata and Oxford area.

Water storage dam construction, Mount Torlesse Station.

 All of the above works have to some degree involved compliance with consents, adherence to set quality standards and procedures with the works to completed to time schedules and budget.
